John Bradshaw: The Home Coming Story
I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting famous author, educator, counselor and motivational speaker John Bradshaw while he was giving one of his lectures and healing sessions, The Home Coming meditation.
He so graciously chose to use the Going Home Medley from my Going Home Again CD, which gave him the most relaxing and unobtrusive opening for his audiences in order to lead them to the most ideal mental state for his healing therapy.
I had the privilege of being invited to one of these presentations in Oakland, California. It took place in this large stadium-like auditorium with literally thousands of people present.
Before he began his guided meditation with the Going Home music as his background, I noticed that he had a medical staff standing by each of the tables.
Having never attended one of these guided meditations under his magnificent direction, I discovered the powerful tool that music and guided imagery had in improving one’s wellness and lifestyle of forgiveness and openness.
The audience members were then drawn into the pathways of their childhood memories and emotions, which were comprised of positive as well as negative experiences. It was then it occurred to me why they had the medical staff available. They were there to assist the individuals who were having the most challenging experiences with this guided meditation and to provide a secure environment which is protected and safe while going through this powerful experience of release and freedom.
After the guided imagery, Mr. Bradshaw then took a break while his medical staff assisted with helping his very enthusiastic audience, and I then had the privilege of spending some time speaking with him and other staff members.
He was such a kind man, and thanked me for the usage of the Going Home Music. During the conversation, while I was expressing my powerful experience in being part of this guided imagery session, he kindly gave me a wonderful testimonial:
“(Going Home is) the single most powerful resource in helping my workshop participants to connect with their Inner Child. I am grateful to Kobialka and his music.”
~ John Bradshaw
As time went on, Mr. Bradshaw used my music on many television appearances as well such as The Sally Jessy Raphaël show and The Oprah Winfrey show.
I had the amazing opportunity to watch this whole process work again, and bring one of my favorite people, Oprah Winfrey, to tears with a beautiful honesty that is one of her greatest strengths. As I was watching all of these things happen on her television show, I reflected upon the tremendous charitable work that she has accomplished. The project that touched me the most was Oprah creating the The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy in South Africa to help young women with their education and well-being.
I also reflected upon the powerful role she played in The Color Purple with Whoopie Goldberg, and then my mind was brought back to the touching program that shared such a sacred experience for everyone that was watching and participating.
This opportunity of being with John Bradshaw had a profound effect on my life and my commitment to search further in developing more music that would help to assist the great speakers: John Bradshaw, Bernie Siegel, Joan Borysenko, Andrew Weil, and Larry Dossey.
As a young child and through my life-long experiences, I have felt very privileged to be involved with this most powerful language, music.
